History is Free (for Locals) at Yorktown Victory Center – what was old is new

The Yorktown Victory Center has been undergoing a transformation to offer a renewed perspective on the meaning and impact of the entire Revolution. In March 2015 they debuted a new museum building:  American Revolution Museum at Yorktown – the project will be completed late 2016.

 

A tour will help you gain an understanding of events that led to America’s war for independence and the impact of the war. Starting in August, enjoy “Tools of the Trade” theme month at the Yorktown Victory Center to explore 18th-century tools and implements of Revolutionary War soldiers and farmers.

Three films are shown on a rotating basis in the museum theater. These movies provides a visual journey from the 13 British colonies in the 1750s to the westward expansion of the new United States in the 1790s. Special visitor participatory experiences are offered near the timeline.

History Comes to Life in Outdoor Living-History Areas 

Outdoors, experience life for soldiers and farmers of the Revolutionary period in re-creations of a Continental Army encampment – featuring daily artillery demonstrations from spring through fall – and a Revolution-period farm.

PRICES AND HOURS: The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation is pleased to offer free admission to local residents. The hours are 9am-5pm.

Admission for Residents of James City County, York County and the City of Williamsburg, receive free admission every day at Jamestown Settlement and the Yorktown Victory Center with proof of residency. Admission for your guests: $9.75 ($5.50 for children)
